Visits to the Bargello and Ferragamo Museums in Florence

Today we visited the Bargello Museum
which is housed in a beautiful 12 th century home. We saw sculptures by Michelangelo and Donatello. Then we went off to see the Shoe museum which had a special exhibit about Marilyn Monroe. The exhibit showcased her life and the shoes she wore that were made for her by Ferragamo. Oddly enough my husband chose not to view this museum...Besides the shoes there were many of her costumes and fabulous photos of her. She was quite a complex person. I also now know that shoes can be works of art and that's perhaps the reason I am obsessed with them.
The workshop begins tomorrow with a visit to the town of Castellina in Chianti and moving in to our villa.
