Sunday Beach Painting

Southern California beaches are especially beautiful in the winter, I think. This morning the beach was a hub bub of activity.

I sat down and did a painting in my sketchbook. I am trying something different before I begin a painting lately.  Before I even touch my pencil to the paper I think about why I want to paint my subject and about what I want to  try to show in my painting. Sometimes I write a sentence about my intention in the margins of my sketchbook...
