How I Plan A Painting

I took the above photo in St. Remy, France at the weekly farmer's market. Something made me want to make a painting from it the other day. Maybe it was the memory I had of watching how patient the vendors were on that sunny morning in Provence. 

I sketched a few thumbnail sketches using the photo as reference, then I wrote about the effect I wanted to show in my painting. 

After I found a composition I liked, I drew it bigger and with more values. Tomorrow I plan to start painting...
