Tuesday Art Skool

This is a sketch I did from a photo I took last year in Castelina in Chianti, a village south of Florence in Tuscany.  When I turned a corner and caught sight of the clothing hanging on the line and the great shadows they were casting, I knew I had to paint this picture. I didn't have time to sit down and paint the picture on location, so I took a photo to paint from later.  The composition in the photo wasn't perfect, so I had to move the clothing up so it wasn't covered by the fence in front of it. I also decided to remove the window and add a closed door to the arched entryway.  Feel free to print it out and paint it. I'd love to see your results.
I used yellow ochre for the wall, burnt sienna and ultramarine blue for the door,  scarlet lake and  cobalt blue on the  flower pot and scarlet lake and yellow for the geraniums.
Don't you love the shadow that orange dress is casting?

I used a Pitt Fine Line black pen over my pencil drawing for this sketch.
