I Secretly Used Mixed Media

These paintings came from an assignment I gave my watercolor students. Paint 2 versions of the same subject using 80% of 4 neighboring colors on the color wheel and 20% of their complimentary colors. Once I had two versions done I couldn't stop myself from doing 2 more. Then I found all kinds of things in my art supply drawer to use on top of the watercolor. So these are mixed media paintings. I just love to say that, because it is one of my goals to use more mixed media in some of my work. Other of my goals include making an important contribution to the field of drawing and finding a solution to end war. Ho Hum....

I love these! I hope we don't have to do anything as challenging as 80/20 at Art & Soul. I'm too much of a novice for that. I can hardly wait to have fun, eat chocolate and do some painting.

I just love these, wonderful use of color and a neat exercise to explore the use of color.
