If you click the above link it will take you to a YouTube video I discovered of me doing 2 painting demos at the last Cloth, Paper, Scissors CREATE retreat where I taught a few workshops. I knew they had filmed me doing demos but I did not realize they were going to be on YouTube. So, if you are interested in learning how to avoid mixing muddy watercolors and how to paint with colorful grays, check out these videos and let me know what you think.

Watercolor Journaling - the Hazards of Sketching in a Bakery

Thursday afternoon, Louise and I decided to paint in the local Panera Bakery. We were happy to find a place to sit right in front of the pastry display case. The afternoon sun shone on the baked goods basking them in a golden light and we began to sketch. Soon a group of women came into the bakery and stood right in front of the case to study the pastries giving us a view of their you-know-whats. We waited patiently for the ladies to decide on their treats and move on. When they finally left, we were shocked to discover that they ordered all of the scones Louise had been sketching and the tray was empty. Next week we are thinking of going to the car wash to paint...

First Painting Hung in SDWCSociety Show

I was so excited last week when I found out my painting had been accepted in the San Diego Watercolor Society's January show. Tonight was the show's opening and there were a lot of really wonderful paintings in the show. The theme of the show is "fresh Start" and my painting is titled "For a Fresh Start, Buy Yourself a New Dress".
